Coronavirus and Vaping March 19 2020

We just wanted to clear some things up for our customers regarding whether or not vaping increases your risk of Coronavirus.

Despite what the media may present over the coming weeks, there is no scientific evidence supporting this idea.

These reports stem from data showing that men were more likely than women to be hospitalized with coronavirus in China. Since Chinese men smoke in greater numbers than women, particular researchers hypothesized that smoking might increase ones risk for severe symptoms. Certain news outlets are lumping vaping into that, but as we know by now, vaping is not the same as smoking.

Another theory being propagated is that nicotine increases the amount of ACE2 receptors in the lungs.

Since COVID-19 utilizes ACE2 as a pathway for spreading infection. This theory does hold some water, however, there are conflicting studies regarding this phenomenon. In separate studies, researchers have found that Nicotine can either increase or decrease the amount of ACE2 that is expressed in cells. So we would say this one is inconclusive and could go either way.

One last theory floating around is that Propylene Glycol (PG) protects against catching Coronavirus.

People frequently cite this study which shows that PG kills bacteria suspended in air. We would say that a study regarding COVID-19 specifically would need to be done in order to form any useful conclusions. We caution vapers against the idea that e-liquid is somehow protecting you from contracting Coronavirus until more research can be done.

We also wanted to address whether or not we would be open for business still.

For the time being, we do plan to remain open, however fulfillment times may be delayed as we are limiting the amount of employees we have onsite as well as providing employees with as much time off as they want. So please keep this in mind if you order.

Now I always like to end things on a positive note so here's some things to look forward to by the end of the month.

1. New Vanilla Mint Flavor
2. New Bubble Gum Flavor
3. Current Mystery Flavor Release
4. Brand New Mystery Flavor
5. Caliburn Pods Restocked

We hope everyone stays safe and healthy, and if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me directly.
